The Questions
Along the journey of life, we read biographies, watch and listen as lives unfold before our eyes on the screen, and seek people who help us understand our purpose in life. By learning about the values and meaning of the lives of others, we learn about ourselves. Movies, with their powerful ability to inspire, are valuable tools of instruction. When humans engage with content through a medium they love, they learn better and retain more. Incorporating the themes depicted in Callings into classroom and youth group discussions offers a way to explore careers, not as a series of choices, but rather as an answer to a higher calling.
Through the artful abilities of Mary Pat Storms, Archbishop O'Hara High School's Campus Minister and Chair of the Theology Department, and Diane Pickert, St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish Youth Director, complementary study guides are available to allow young adults to dive deep into Callings. Study Guide activities target high-school age groups and are interdisciplinary. This study guide may be reproduced, in whole or part, for educational purposes only.
The guides help to promote discussion, further discernment concerning vocation, and offer teachers and youth ministers lesson and activity plans
